Local companies come to the rescue of Central Youth Club

Companies Evolve and Wolseley help to refurbish all-weather football pitches

Staff at Central Youth Club made an appeal for companies Evolve and Wolseley to come to the rescue to refurbish their run down all-weather pitches.

Evolve Facility Services, who are the in- house repairs contractor for Riverside Housing and national materials supplier Wolseley donated money, materials and time to get the refurbishment of the Central Youth Club underway.

The club is struggling financially and despite this staff work extremely hard to serve the many young people who use the centre on a daily basis.

Brian Gates, community development officer at Evolve said: “A lot of hard work was carried out over a three week period, we had people working continuously with our partners Wolseley.

“We thought it would be a great way of marking the pitches completion with a five-a-side football competition between the two companies on the new all-weather pitches.”

The football competition was cheered on by local residents as well as ward councillors Wendy Simon and Liam Robinson.

Liam said: “Central Youth Club provides a great facility for hundreds of local young people in Kensington and beyond.

“We are really impressed with how local businesses Evolve and Wolseley worked with the club to renovate the football pitches and know that the results will be enjoyed by young people in the area for years to come.”
